How to Read Mahjong Set Photos Before You Buy
Use tile close-ups, packing photos and scale checks to distinguish useful product information from table styling.
A styled photograph can show the mood of a mahjong night without showing everything you need to evaluate a set. Read the gallery in three passes: tile identity, scale and included contents.
First, inspect the faces
Look for a full layout or several clear close-ups. Can you recognise the suits, winds and dragons? Are printed numbers legible? A striking back design says little about how easily you will identify a discard from the opposite seat.
Zooming helps inspect artwork, but remember that enlarged images do not represent normal playing distance. Ask for a wider view if every photograph is an extreme close-up.
Next, find a real scale reference
Prefer written dimensions to visual guesses. A cup, hand or decorative tray is not a dependable measuring tool. Check the dimensions of the tiles and accessories against your existing equipment before assuming they fit.
A product title containing “large” is descriptive, not a standard size. Likewise, a compact-looking bag may hold only tiles rather than the entire setup.
Finally, separate styling from contents
Read the written inventory alongside the photographs. Flowers, glasses, candles, cards and extra bags may be props. If the image and text seem inconsistent, ask the seller to clarify before ordering.
For Café Mahjong's collection, use the individual listing as your checklist. Save a screenshot of the selected variant and contents with the order confirmation. This creates a clear reference for unpacking and avoids relying on a photograph you remember only approximately.
